The way that dogs come into our lives through such diverse channels is some sort of proof that there is significance to their arrival in our lives. It cannot be simply by coincidence that a pupper is found in a certain spot at someone's workplace, or that a specific puppy runs up to a specific hooman at the shelter. These events have meaning and while most of the time that meaning remains mysterious, in this story the meaning is finally revealed.

Reddit's r/seniordogs subreddit is a place full of heartwrenching stories about older puppers who are having a tough time navigating life. Whether that be a case of potty problems or advancing health issues the list of potential problems is endless. However, the story we fished out of there has a completely different tale to tell. This is the story of a woman who spent her life around dogs but never truly had one of her own. Her grandfather's dog during her childhood was the closest she ever came to feeling like a dog had chosen her but alas he too was gone with the sands of time. So when, in her later life, this dog lover finally found herself in a pawsition to actually adopt a doggo, she leapt at the opportunity. Finally, she could have a pup all to herself who she would love with all her heart.

However, what she did not know about this special pup who 'randomly' landed in her lap after a foster fail is that he was special. So special in fact that his secret would not come out for another three years, when this dog momma decided to take her soul dog to see the farm where she used to run around during summer vacation with one of the dogs she loved most in the world.

Ok, from the sounds of it this story is dealing with some strong mystical powers capable of bringing beloved puppers back from the netherworld. A dream that so many of us pupper pawrents have, especially those of us who have lost soul dogs along the way. The pain is immense and sometimes feels as though it will never pass. Heck, in certain cases we are sure that it never passes and that some pawrents never move on and adopt themselves a new pupper. But if this story stands to show us anything it is that it is ok to let go of the memory of your passed pupper because there is a good chance they are by your side guiding you without you even knowing about it.

We will not throw in any spoilers at this point, other than the bond this lady had with Pluto in her younger days sounds absolutely life changing. Spending time aimlessly walking around a farm during the summer vacation in your formative years with your pupper in tow, those are the things that make a childhood. Simple moments learning to trust, to adventure and to be independent. It is no surprise that this lady remembers their relationship as a particularly special one and that will become very relevant later in the story.
